The Geezer Bandit is Out of Control!!!

I still cannot believe how long this crazy and dangerous man has been at large! Come on cops… you can do it! I believe in you! Catch this man and put him behind bars NOW.

The FBI and police in California are searching for the "geezer bandit," an apparently grey-haired elderly man who has committed armed robberies at 12 banks, the latest on Friday in Bakersfield.

The elderly persona — whether real or donned for the robberies — may be one reason why the bandit has been so successful. "People may think that because of his overall appearance he may not be as threatening," said FBI special agent Darrell Foxworth in San Diego. "But you have to keep in mind that he’s an armed bank robber. And he has threatened tellers with the use of that gun — we have photos where he is actually pointing a gun at a teller."

Foxworth said "witnesses described him as wearing a Halloween-like old man mask. Whether he’s actually an elderly man or someone wearing some type of disguise is something we’re considering as part of the investigation. We have not limited ourselves in any way."

The first 11 robberies in San Diego and Riverside counties share characteristics with Friday’s heist in the town of Bakersfield, according to the FBI. In the first 11 episodes, which took place from August 2009 through June 2010, the robber showed a demand note, asked for cash, pointed a revolver at tellers, and threatened them with a gun if they did not comply.

Oh Noes! It’s the Skateboard Bandit!

san-diego-skateboard-bandit Damn street thugs! First, the geezer bandit, then the floppy hat bandit, now… this punk. This guy actually sounds dangerous though. What is happening to our city?

Via Tony Perry at Los Angeles Times:

First it was the aging Geezer Bandit (still at large). Then the Floppy Hat Bandit (a female suspect now in custody).

And now, a skateboard bandit — San Diego’s string of idiosyncratic bank heists continues.

The latest is the fellow who flashed a gun Monday at a Comerica Bank teller, stuffed the money in his backpack and left with his skateboard.

His face was covered by a green paisley-colored bandanna. His beanie, sweatshirt, gloves and pants were black. So, too, was his semiautomatic pistol.

San Diego police and the FBI are asking for the public’s help in tracking him down.

THE GEEZER BANDIT STRIKES AGAIN!

san-diego-geezer-bandit This man is crazy! I don’t know how this dude has gotten away with this so many times. I guess it’s because he’s old and people just assume that he’s not capable of doing anything this terrible. I hope they catch the bastard.

Oh my gosh! He’s at it again! This is one crazy old dude.

Via The Los Angeles Times Local Blog:

The San Diego County bank robber dubbed “the Geezer Bandit” by the FBI has struck again.

He is suspected of robbing the California Bank and Trust on Tuesday in suburban Vista — his seventh bank job since late August.

His age, estimated to be between 60 and 70 years, has given rise to the FBI nickname. He often wears headgear.

On Tuesday, he appeared to wear a Padres cap. He waited patiently in line and then flashed a revolver at the teller and demanded money, the FBI said.

Three banks have offered rewards totaling $16,000 for his arrest. Tipsters can call the FBI at (858) 565-1255 or San Diego County Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.

San Diego Citibank Robbed by Three Violent Thugs

What a meanie!

Whoa… now these guys actually acted like bank robbers… not like those other weirdos.

Via Sign On San Diego News:

Three men ordered customers and employees to the ground Monday during a robbery at a Citibank, the FBI said.

The group entered the branch on Avocado Boulevard and Calle Verde Drive about 11 a.m. in Rancho San Diego, and one of them waved a handgun as he ordered everyone inside to the ground, the FBI said. Two other men then jumped over the counter into the area where the tellers were located to steal cash, the FBI said.

The group left in a car described as a white, four-door sedan with an undisclosed amount of money.

Three tellers were injured: One was hit by a cabinet door and kicked in the head as one of the robbers climbed back over the counter and two others were stepped on or kicked in the head, the FBI said.

Agents are looking for a woman who was seen entering the bank as the group fled. The woman has not been identified.

Anyone with information can contact the FBI at (858) 565-1255; the Sheriff’s Department at (858) 565-5200; or Crime Stoppers anonymously by sending a text or e-mail message to its website, sdcrimestoppers.com, or by calling (888) 580-8477. Tips leading to an arrest may be eligible for a reward.

Less Bank Robberies in San Diego

I know you want me...

This is great. A drop in bank robberies is always a good thing!

Via SignOnSanDiego:

The number of reported bank robberies in San Diego County declined about 38 percent in 2009 compared with the previous year, the FBI said Tuesday.

Last year, there were 101 bank robberies in the county with a total loss of $602,085, compared with 165 in 2008 with a total loss of more than $1.6 million, said FBI Special Agent Darrell Foxworth.

The FBI also released national statistics on bank robberies, burglaries and larcenies during the last three months of 2009. More than $10.5 million was taken. Of that amount, 20 percent was recovered.

Bank crimes most often occurred on Tuesdays, and regardless of the day, occurred most frequently between 9 and 11 a.m., the FBI said.

Asked about the local decrease, Foxworth said that a number of factors affect bank robbery crime rates, and he said he could not point to a particular factor. He said that the FBI works closely with local law enforcement agencies to apprehend the most violent and prolific bank robbers.

He noted the FBI is still looking for the robber dubbed “The Geezer Bandit,” who last robbed a bank Jan. 28, striking for what authorities believe was the sixth time in five months.

Rewards totaling $16,000 are being offered for arrest of the robber, who is believed to be between 60 and 70 years old.

Good times, San Diego!

Bomb Threat Causes Bank of America Evacuation

Crazy old white man!

Crazy old white man!

Man, there are some seriously crazy people in this world. Check this out:

Via 10 News:

SAN DIEGO — Police arrested a man who claimed to have a bomb strapped to his body at a bank in City Heights, 10News reported.

Authorities evacuated a Bank of America branch office Monday in the 4100 block of El Cajon Boulevard in City Heights due to a bomb threat, a police spokeswoman said.

According to Monica Munoz of the San Diego Police Department, a white man with a beard and cane appearing to be about 50 to 60 years old entered the bank, claimed to be carrying an explosive device and demanded cash.

All customers and employees left the building, but the would-be thief remained inside, the spokeswoman said. Officers have shut down traffic lanes in the area and surrounded the bank.

Police said the man apparently left the bank, but was arrested at a nearby residence.

First of all, that story doesn’t make sense. Second… what’s up with old white men going crazy? I mean… there was that ridiculous 912 march of liars in Washington DC, and now this??? Yikes.

SAN DIEGO — A man who robbed a Pacific Beach bank but then returned to retrieve his demand note was arrested Wednesday.

The robber went into the Bank of America on Garnet Avenue near Bayard Street about 2:45 p.m., San Diego police said.

He gave the teller a note, took an undisclosed amount of money and left but then came back moments later to retrieve the piece of paper, police said.

Officers searched the area and a police helicopter circled overhead announcing the man’s description.

Someone spotted a man matching the robber’s description about ten blocks away on Missouri Street near Mission Boulevard and officers took him into custody.

Seriously people… we’re a nation of morons. Yikes. Let’s all start using our brains just a little bit more. It’ll be fun. I promise.
