Science Project Mistaken for Bomb by Dumb Principal

SAN DIEGO — Authorities say a San Diego middle school was evacuated when a student’s science project was mistaken for a bomb.

A Fire-Rescue spokesman says a concerned vice principal prompted the evacuation of Millennial Tech Magnet Middle School yesterday afternoon.

He says an arson team took photos and X-rays of the empty plastic bottle with wires and determined it was harmless.

He says the 11-year-old was trying to build a motion detector with instructions he found on the Internet and parts he bought online. His parents helped him buy the parts. They say they didn’t realize the experiment looked threatening.

SAN DIEGO — A man who robbed a Pacific Beach bank but then returned to retrieve his demand note was arrested Wednesday.

The robber went into the Bank of America on Garnet Avenue near Bayard Street about 2:45 p.m., San Diego police said.

He gave the teller a note, took an undisclosed amount of money and left but then came back moments later to retrieve the piece of paper, police said.

Officers searched the area and a police helicopter circled overhead announcing the man’s description.

Someone spotted a man matching the robber’s description about ten blocks away on Missouri Street near Mission Boulevard and officers took him into custody.

Seriously people… we’re a nation of morons. Yikes. Let’s all start using our brains just a little bit more. It’ll be fun. I promise.
